Membership

Formed at California School for the Deaf, Berkeley in 1960 by a small group of concerned teachers, CAL-ED (formerly CATHI) has grown into a large state-wide organization of professionals serving Deaf and hard of hearing students. Its purpose is to improve the quality of education for all Deaf and hard of hearing children.

Membership Benefits:

Dual membership in CAL-ED and CAID (Council on American Instructors for the Deaf)
Building a network of contacts with other professionals through area newsletters and mini-conferences
Sharing ideas with other professionals at a state-wide conference
Providing scholarships to future professionals in the field of deaf education
Expressing to legislators and other decision-makers concerns related to Deaf and hard of hearing students
Receiving The E-Forum — the official publication of CAL-ED, published 2 times yearly

Membership Dues:

Professional Membership — $70.00
(Open to all credentialed staff)
Associated Membership — $55.00
(Open to retired professionals, parents, interpreters and aides/assistants)
College Student Membership — $50.00
(Open to full-time students only — must be accompanied by a letter from University advisor)

NOTE: All membership dues are for a period of one (1) year and must be renewed annually in order to maintain a current membership status in CAL-ED.
