Board Member Elections

The CAL-ED board is anticipating filling several vacancies at our up-coming 2016 conference. The election will take place at the CAL-ED Conference in Fresno, CA on February 26th-28th, 2016.  Your presence is not required but recommended.  An email will be sent to notify your acceptance for nomination.  If you are interested in filling one of these positions, you must submit a letter in writing by February 1, 2016. View each of the positions and their responsibilities below.

  • Area I Representative (2 year term) (Butte, Colusa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendincino, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tahema, Trinity, Yolo, and Yuba)

Area I Representative Nominations:

Razi Zarchy, M.S., CCC-SLP Speech-Language Pathologist

Razi received his graduate degree in the field of Speech and Language Pathology from California State University, Sacramento. He has experience doing language, literacy, and speech therapy with Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing children in school, clinic, and in-home environments. He holds a Certificate of Proficiency in American Sign Language, and tries to keep his ASL skills current by frequent involvement in the local Deaf community. He currently works for San Juan Unified School District in the Sacramento area, working with DHH infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and high schoolers, as well as with hearing preschoolers with speech-language delays and/or autism.




    Area V Representative Nominations:

    Darren Hause was born and raised in a Deaf family, and graduated from Maryland School for the Deaf. Later he attended CSUN and majored in Political Science and minored in Geography. He has worked within the Deaf community in various capacities such as tutoring at the Boys & Girls Club of Burbank, private tutoring/mentoring, and acting as the Vocational Instructor for Deaf clients at Goodwill Southern California. Those experiences led him to become a teacher of the Deaf. He returned to CSUN and completed his teaching credentials and Masters in Special Education. He now works as Science & Math teacher at South Hills High School in West Covina.
