  • Community-based and Professional Service Providers/Shareholders in Deaf Education

Associate
Membership

  • Non-certified (Classified) persons working in educational programs for Deaf students (such as instructional aides , paraprofessionals, educational and agency interpreters, deaf mentors, and deaf coaches)
  • Retired professionals and shareholders
  • Deaf Community members (CODAS, Camp Counselors working with Deaf Children, etc.)
College Membership
  • Open to postsecondary students enrolled in Deaf Education programs, school-based service providers, and/or interpreters of Deaf students. 

Lifetime
Membership

No Dues

  • Past Presidents who have completed their term(s) in good standing, shall hold professional membership for life without the need to pay additional dues
  • Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients

Formed at the California School for the Deaf, Berkeley in 1960 by a small group of concerned teachers, Cal-ED (formerly CATHI) has grown into a large state-wide organization of professionals serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Its purpose is to improve the quality of education for all Deaf* children.
